Like Father , Like Daughter

“I’m gonna watch you shine
Gonna watch you grow
Gonna paint a sign
So you’ll always know
As long as one and one is two
There could never be a father
Who loved his daughter more than I love you.”

Father and Daughter by Paul Simon

Paul Simon was on my campus speaking the other day and in an effort to learn a few more songs other than “You Can Call me Al”, I stumbled across this song. In addition to it being a great song, the lyrics perfectly captured the love I have for my little munchkin.  As I’ve watched her grow over the last 20+ months , our similarities are startling, from the our obsession with blueberries  to our adoration for good jazz music.

The picture in this blog was taken over a year ago at Centennial Park in Atlanta, Georgia.  A framed version of this sits on my desk and is one of my favorite photos.
